Every year in November, Panzanella participates in RSVVP Day, the community-wide fundraiser for the IFC’s local food pantry and community kitchen. Participating restaurants donate 10% of proceeds to the IFC; the event raises over $20,000! The IFC, which also runs the homeless shelter, always welcomes donations for their programs. You can send them a check or donate directly on their website.

September 19 2011 was the co-op’s Annual Meeting, held in Panzanella. The guest speaker was Jim Blaine, President of the NC State Employees’ Credit Union. A video of his talk is posted on the Weaver Street Market Youtube channel. It is in four parts; part four is where it gets fun!

In September 2011, we hosted a benefit for Health Care Africa, a nonprofit based in Raleigh that works to change public attitudes towards the visually impaired of Liberia, featuring local Bands The Element of Peas and Strange Little Folk. View pictures from the event on Flickr.

In June 2011 we participated in the Farm to Fork Picnic, again paired with Perry-winkle Farm. View more pictures on Flickr.

In October 2010, we hosted a book signing with writer Richard James Boyd and illustrator Vanessa Rumaz Boyd, creators of a beautiful, collectible art book called Nereena, the Fairy Queen of Halloween.  The book features the FantaFairies, intricate pen-and-ink and watercolor creations, and transports readers into a charming and whimsical fantasy world as they follow Nereena on a fantastic adventure and search for hidden Halloween icons in her intricate costume.  For foodies, recipes for Nereena’s favorite Halloween treats are tucked in the back of the book.

In June 2010, Chef Jim Nixon paired with Cathy Jones and Mike Perry of Perry-winkle Farm at the Farm to Fork Picnic!
