Our Local Commitment

At Panzanella, we change our menu with the seasons.  This enables us to take advantage of the many products grown and produced locally.  We are committed to serving only sustainable seafood, and when available, we buy pasture-raised pork and beef from local farms.

The artisan bread served with meals at Panzanella is made at the Weaver Street Market bakery in Hillsborough.  We serve coffee made with organic, fair trade beans that are roasted by local roasters.

Our menu routinely features items from the following producers:

Homeland Creamery, Julian NC
Holly Grove Farms, Mount Olive NC
Chapel Hill Creamery, Chapel Hill NC

Our popular “Farm Dinners” have become a summer tradition.  Chef Jim Nixon creates a menu – sometimes at the last minute! – that features the vegetables, meats, and/or cheeses produced by one of our local farms.  New opportunities to support the local food system arise as well.  In 2010 we began working with Core Sound Seafood, a local distributor of seafood caught by fishermen at the North Carolina coast.  And in the summer of 2010, our bartender began heading out the Carrboro Farmers’ Market on Wednesday evenings to seek out fruit, herbs, and vegetables for that night’s “Farmers’ Market Cocktail.”

Eating at Panzanella is about more than a great meal.  Dine with us and support growers and artisans in your own community!
